Our topic this term is ‘Could it be magic?’. We will thinking all about Traditional tales such as ‘Goldilocks and the 3 bears’, ‘The 3 little Pigs’ and ‘The Gingerbread Man.’ We will also be having a Chinese New Year themed week on Monday 23rd February where we will be thinking about the Chinese cultures, beliefs and traditions.

Throughout the term we will be changing the role play into a ‘Bears cottage’ where children can act out the story of ‘Goldilocks and the 3 bears’, a ‘Chinese takeaway’ where children can experience some Chinese culture and Traditions and a ‘Pigs construction site’ where children will be able to build the 3 pigs houses using bricks, straw and sticks.

In PSHE, the children will be thinking all about ‘Bullying and Friendship’ and also ‘Stranger Danger’ with Mrs Robinson.

In the second part of the term, we will be thinking about Easter and the Easter story for RE.
All children in Reception will be working within either Phase 2 or Phase 3 phonics this half term and from this children will be taught the skills which they need to begin read and write basic words.
All children should bring home a Reception/Year 1 topic web which will give you even more information of the different things we will be doing in all subjects over the full half term.
